By InspireHer: A Global Women’s Health Initiative
Women’s health is not a niche issue.
It is a systems issue.
When women lack access to knowledgeable, compassionate care—when pain is dismissed, recovery is rushed, and education is withheld—the impact ripples far beyond the individual. Families feel it. Providers feel it. Entire communities carry the cost.
Around the world, women and girls continue to face structural barriers that limit their ability to access quality healthcare. These barriers are not accidental. They are shaped by policies, power structures, and long-standing inequities that determine who receives care—and who does not.
At InspireHer, we believe women’s health outcomes improve only when systems are intentionally designed to support women across the lifespan, with providers empowered to deliver care that is preventive, evidence-informed, and equitable.
Women’s Health Is Shaped by Systems—Not Individual Willpower
Global data consistently show that women and girls face systemic obstacles to care, including:
- Unequal power dynamics that limit autonomy and decision-making
- Social and cultural norms that restrict education, employment, and healthcare access
- Narrow definitions of women’s health that focus solely on reproduction
- High rates of physical, sexual, and emotional violence
These conditions contribute to downstream outcomes providers see every day:
- Increased maternal morbidity and mortality
- Higher rates of adolescent pregnancy
- Chronic pelvic pain, incontinence, and untreated musculoskeletal conditions
- Limited autonomy over healthcare decisions
These are not individual failures.
They are predictable outcomes of under-resourced systems.
And they demand systems-level solutions.
Where Pelvic and Women’s Health Therapy Changes the Trajectory
Pelvic and women’s health therapy sits at a critical intersection of prevention, function, and long-term well-being.
Across the lifespan, physical therapists are uniquely positioned to:
- Identify dysfunction early and reduce long-term complications
- Support safe pregnancy, birth, and postpartum recovery
- Address pelvic pain, continence, mobility, and core health
- Educate women about their bodies in ways that restore autonomy and confidence
Yet globally—and even within the U.S.—access to this care remains limited, uneven, or entirely unavailable in underserved communities.
InspireHer exists to change that reality by educating providers, expanding access, and building sustainable pathways to care.
Our Approach: Building Capacity Across the Lifespan
We approach women’s health as a continuum, not a moment in time.
Through the lens of physical therapy, InspireHer supports care across every life stage:
- Adolescence
Supporting body literacy, menstrual health, injury prevention, and early pelvic health education. - Reproductive & Childbearing Years
Advancing safer pregnancies, trauma-informed birth support, postpartum recovery, and access to pelvic health services. - Midlife
Addressing hormonal transitions, musculoskeletal resilience, pelvic health changes, and long-term function. - Later Life
Supporting mobility, continence, bone health, independence, and quality of life.
Our initiatives—including the Better Birth Project, provider grants, mentorship programs, and global education partnerships—are designed to strengthen systems by investing in the people delivering care.
Why Providers and Partners Matter
No single discipline, organization, or region can solve these challenges alone.
Providers are often the first to recognize when systems fail women—but they are rarely given the resources, education, or support to change those systems.
Partners make change sustainable.
Corporate, philanthropic, and organizational partners enable InspireHer to:
- Educate and support the next generation of women’s health providers
- Expand access to pelvic health services in underserved communities
- Invest in global education and advocacy initiatives
- Build long-term, community-centered solutions—not short-term fixes
Partnership with InspireHer is not transactional. It is systems-building work.
Building Stronger Futures—Together
When women receive comprehensive, expert care across their lifespan:
- Providers can practice proactively, not reactively
- Families experience greater stability and well-being
- Communities grow healthier and more resilient
Women’s health is foundational to thriving societies. Strengthening it requires collaboration across healthcare, education, policy, and funding.
At InspireHer, we are committed to building that future—by equipping providers, expanding access, and partnering with those who believe women’s health deserves more than minimum standards.
