Our Purpose: Building Healthier Futures for Women Through Physical Therapy

By InspireHer: A Global Women’s Health Initiative

Every movement toward change begins with clarity.

At InspireHer, our purpose is grounded in one unwavering truth:
No woman should suffer in silence because the healthcare system failed to recognize, value, or provide pelvic and women’s health care.

We exist to build a future where women are supported across every stage of life—where their pain is taken seriously, their bodies are understood, and their care is proactive rather than reactive.

This is not aspirational.
It is necessary.

The Reality We Are Responding To

Women’s health should not be a crisis.
Yet for millions, it is.

  • Black and Indigenous mothers continue to face devastating disparities in maternal outcomes, with Black women in the U.S. experiencing pregnancy-related mortality at significantly higher rates.
  • Pelvic pain, incontinence, prolapse, and postpartum dysfunction are routinely dismissed as “normal,” delaying care and compounding long-term harm.
  • Entire communities—both domestically and globally—lack access to providers educated in pelvic and women’s health, leaving women without pathways to healing.

These are not isolated failures.
They are systemic gaps—and they demand intentional solutions.

If InspireHer Didn’t Exist

Without focused action, critical gaps would remain.

  • Purpose-driven physical therapy students passionate about women’s health would have fewer pathways for mentorship, funding, and connection as they seek to build meaningful careers.
  • Birth workers and doulas would continue serving families with dedication, but often without consistent access to pelvic health–specific education and interdisciplinary collaboration that can strengthen maternal outcomes.
  • Women in underserved communities—from rural regions to global settings—would face even fewer opportunities to connect with providers equipped to support pelvic and women’s health across the lifespan.
  • Preventable complications would continue to escalate into long-term conditions when education, access, and early intervention are not aligned.

The issue is not a lack of passion or effort.
It is a lack of connected systems.

InspireHer exists to help bridge those systems—by educating providers, strengthening collaboration, and expanding access where it is most needed.

Our Response: Strengthening Systems Through Providers

InspireHer is built on the belief that physical therapy—especially pelvic and women’s health physical therapy—can change outcomes when providers are educated, supported, and connected.

Our work focuses on building capacity where it matters most:

  • The Better Birth Project
Educating and equipping birth workers, doulas, and midwives with pelvic health knowledge to reduce complications and support safer pregnancies, births, and recoveries.
  • Grants & Mentorship
Investing directly in physical therapy students and clinicians advancing women’s health—providing funding, guidance, and community to turn ideas into impact.
  • Global Outreach & Education
Expanding access to pelvic health education, mentorship, and resources in communities with limited care infrastructure—because equity must extend beyond borders.

This is not about isolated programs.
It is about building sustainable pathways to care.

Why Providers Are Central to This Work

Physical therapists are not just treating symptoms.
They are restoring function, dignity, and agency.

When providers are equipped with the right education and support:

  • Prevention replaces crisis care
  • Early intervention reduces long-term disability
  • Women regain confidence in their bodies and their futures

By investing in providers, we are investing in every woman they will serve—now and for decades to come.

This is the ripple effect of pelvic and women’s health physical therapy.
This is why providers are at the center of InspireHer’s purpose.

Join Us in Building What Comes Next

This work is not meant to be carried alone.

It takes providers willing to lead. Partners committed to systems change.
Advocates who refuse to accept the status quo.

  • If you are a provider — join us through mentorship, education, and advocacy.
  • If you are a donor or partner — your support expands access, education, and opportunity where it is needed most.
  • If you are an advocate — help amplify the voices and needs too often overlooked.

Together, we are building healthcare systems that see women fully—and support them accordingly.

Together, we are building healthier futures through physical therapy.👉 Support the mission: gwhi.org/donations
